Gary Allan Helps Bring in Big Bucks for DiGeorge Syndrome Research
Gary Allan's concert at the Chicago House of Blues earlier this month raised more than 225 thousand dollars for children dealing with DiGeorge syndrome. According to CMT.com, the event was spearheaded by Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster and his wife Jenny, whose 15-month-old-daughter Riley suffers from the illness, and the money raised will go to their foundation to fund research. DiGeorge syndrome is a defect in one of the chromosomes that affects the physical development of infants. Jaron and the Long Road to Love opened the show, which was attended by former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka along with several of Dempster's Chicago Cubs teammates.
